The Argonaut San Francisco’s Style Sails

Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Marina area, The Argonaut Hotel brings a sense of history and authenticity to the  sightseeing staples nearby. The hotel is located in The Cannery- a converted fruit canning factory that is full of character.  The Argonaut capitalized on the buildings unique features, leaving exposed beams in the hallways and event spaces. They also used arched brick alcoves as a focal point for each room’s dresser and mini bar.  The nautical theme that runs throughout the building is tastefully done- with my favorite elements;  hardwood stripped floors and sails welcoming guests to the lobby.

I was thrilled to find that the creative conversion of the historic building resulted in luxuriously spacious rooms and hallways.  My room overlooked Maritime Park and Ghirardelli Square their are Bay view rooms available where you can spot Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge.  As most visitors crave to have their picture in front of the bridge, the hotel offers a great special for guests. Just a quick bike ride to great views of the bridge, hop onto a Blazing Saddles bike. You can also bike the 8 miles over the bridge to Sausalito and ferry back to Ferry Building.   Also offered with this special is  a night at the hotel and a full breakfast at Chowder House – the hotel’s in house restaurant.

You don’t have to bike very far to see some other San Francisco icons- the hotel is within walking distance to both  Fisherman’s Wharf and Ghirardelli Square.  Also,  The Argonaut is across the street from the famous San Fran streetcar Powell-Hyde turnaround. If you hop onto the streetcar make sure to grab a spot at the back and snap a picture of the great view rolling up Hyde Street! The trolley is dead useful as well as beautiful. The car brings you through historic Russian Hill, past the Chinatown gate, and through the shopping district of Union Square.

If you want to relax after a long day of travel make sure to get the yoga mat (in room) roll-out service! Ring the front desk to have a staff member come unroll your room’s yoga mat turn on  Kimpton’s Yoga channel and bring extra towels and energizing snacks! This complementary service is best enjoyed in the corner suites. The specialty jacuzzi tubs would be the prefect way to relax.

Another unique quality not to miss in this hotel is the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park. The museum explains the history of the bay, from the indigenous populations who lived there until today with ship wrecks, trade and immigrants making their marks in history.   The story of San Francisco is told through artifacts, murals and videos that are both interactive and interesting. If the kids are still running around the museum don’t hesitate to enjoy the hotel’s wine hour from 5:00pm to 6:00pm where red and white options are free for guests and visitors!

Accessible to public transit, great view, close to tourist attractions and beautiful interiors and the list goes on. For so many reasons we highly recommend The Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco.
