Traveling to London this summer? Hopefully you will get to see some of the major tourist attractions, but if you’re looking to act more like a local, we recommend that you try some of these seasonal sites.
To start, the biggest Military Tattoo, the Royal Tournament, is being held in mid-July. Stay at Jumeirah Carlton Tower for close access and more activities like the the Notting Hill Carnival in August. Jumeirah is also a short stroll away from luxury stores like Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
The boutique myhotel Chelsea is located in South Kensington right on the avenue of all of London’s most fashionable shops. Live like a local for a day and shop ’til you drop and then have a picnic in one of the many Royal Parks located nearby.
For more of an outdoorsy feel, the London Marriott Hotel Park Lane offers bike rentals, bike trails, horseback riding, and sporting courts all within walking distance. There are also two local Zoos — the Bethesda and the London — that the whole family will enjoy.
Another wonderful option is Hotel 41. This five-star luxury hotel is located just behind Buckingham Palace. But beyond this tourist site, there is also the St. James Park and Green Park, the Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, and the notable Westend Theater. Pick your vacation palate and enjoy life as a tourist disguised as a local.
